  1. Do the Comfort IR Heaters need to be covered?

    The Comfort IR Ceramic Units are protected against water ingress (IP4). However, it is highly recommended they are installed in a covered outside area to give maximum protection, effectiveness and comfort levels.

  2. Can I use a traditional light dimmer switch?

    No. The wattage rating of standard dimmer switches is approximately 600W. The Comfort IR units are at higher wattages and draw more current than the traditional dimmer switches can handle.

  3. Can I use a standard thermostat?

    No. A standard thermostat sends a contact closure or low DC voltage signal to your furnace to call for heat. You can, however, use a thermostat designed for use with 115VAC or 230VAC line voltage products such as radiant or baseboard heating. Please keep in mind to use this style of thermostat only indoors and in well insulated areas. Mount the thermostat on an opposing wall out of the direct line of the Comfort IR comfort heater.

  4. Do the heaters have a red glare?

    The Comfort IR Ceramic Heaters do not have any glare, which is one of the advantages over standard quartz/halogen bulb unit. We do offer a quartz style which does give off an orange glow.

  5. How much area do they cover?

    For outdoor use, based on your outside space, the number of Comfort IR Unit(s) will vary. Please call for your specific situation.
    Comfort IR 2 will comfortably cover 10' x 10' (100 sq. ft.) enclosed area
    Comfort IR 3 will comfortably cover 12' x 12' (144 sq. ft.) enclosed area

  6. How long do the Comfort IR units last?

    Comfort IR Ceramic Heaters are guaranteed for two years from date of purchase. Also, the elements are 10,000 hours guaranteed. Warranty evaulations are per instance. Operating under normal / recommended conditions will get the longest life out of the Comfort IR heaters.

  7. How long does it take to warm up to max temp?

    The Comfort IR Ceramic Heaters will achieve maximum temperature in approximately 6 minutes, while the Quartz Heaters will achieve maximum temperature in approximately 4 minutes.

  8. How do I know the heater is on?

    There is a red indicator light on the back of the heater when turned on. You will also feel the heat from the elements within about 2 minutes.

  9. How long does it take for the heaters to cool down?

    The Heaters will take approximately 20 minutes to cool down completely.

  10. How do I clean the heaters?

    When they are turned OFF use a soft cloth and warm soapy water.

  11. Can the Comfort IR heaters be used indoors?

    Yes. They can be used indoors; Garages, Reception Areas, Factories, Schools, Halls, Shop Entrances, Zoos, Sports Facilities and Churches, the list is endless.

  12. How much do the heaters weigh?

    Comfort IR 2 = 8 lbs.
    Comfort IR 3 = 12 lbs.
